目八分

めはちぶ, めはちぶん【目八分】

1 〔目より少し低く〕 a little below one's eyes; most respectfully.

●目八分に捧げる hold sth a little lower than the eyes

・目八分に…を見る[見下す] look down upon sb; hold sb in contempt.

2 〔八分目〕 three-quarters full.

●飯を目八分に盛る fill the bowl with rice a little short of full [below the top].
